Ina Coolbrith Circle 104th Annual Poetry Contest
The awards event for the Ina Coolbrith Circle 104th Annual Poetry Contest will be held Saturday, December 7th, at 2 pm on zoom. All members and friends are invited to attend. Log-in will begin at 1:50. The zoom link will be sent that morning along with a program.
The ceremonies will include: readings of winning poems by readers Robert McNally, Louise Moises, Bob Stanley, and Allegra Silberstein; the reading of last year’s grand prize poem, “Sleeping Towards Apocalypse,” by winning poet Ed Bearden; the presentation of a lifetime achievement award to past president Richard Angilly; and the reading of a poem on this years’ theme, Paradox, by contest chair Deboah Bachels Schmidt.
This year we received 249 entries, so winners were facing stiff competition! Entries per category were as follows:
California – 22
Journeys – 27
Love – 35
Humor – 28
Nature – 32
People – 38
Theme – Paradox – 32

Our judges were Rob Carney (Humor, People), Joy Gaines-Friedler (Journeys, Poet’s Choice), Erica Goss (California, Paradox), and Jan Shoemaker (Love, Nature). Our grand prize judge was Keith Taylor. Judges’ bios will be provided with your program.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
